ebb & flow series by Jenny Tarr

Fascinated by mixed media and the meanings behind the materials we use, here I have re-imagined old boat fabric (salvaged from a washed up boat on Mudeford Spit, in Bournemouth) to create abstract landscapes that invite the viewer to create their own narratives.

It also hints at how we interact with our environment and equally how our environment interacts with us. As time passes, marks are made. The once-pristine becomes raw and rugged, speaking of shared histories of sailors and sea lovers far and wide. I’m really interested in the idea of the boat as nest and nurturer, facing the whole spectrum of the sea’s turbulence to keep us safe.

This is an ongoing series with different sizes available. Please contact me to see more.
